Cosmetic injectables Tx Bar- Changes

March 28, 2024

From April, if you are searching the internet with words like “Cosmetic injectables Geelong” or “Best cosmetic injector Geelong” or even “Best place for lip filler in Geelong” chances are you will not be able to find any cosmetic injectors with these words and phrases still present on their websites. Following some regulation changes by the Therapeutics Goods Administration, our cosmetic nurses have answered some of the mostly commonly asked questions below.

Why can’t Cosmetic clinics use words like “lip filler” or “cosmetic injectables”?

Cosmetic procedures, commonly referred to as “Lip filler” or “Botox” use medications that are injected by healthcare professionals. At Tx Bar, that is our cosmetic nurses or cosmetic nurse practitioner. In Australia, medications are governed by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Previously the TGA had deemed words like dermal filler, antiwrinkle injections or cosmetic injectables are words that were acceptable in advertising these types of procedures. However, earlier this year the TGA updated their advertising guidelines to say the use of these words would be considered unlawful. At Tx Bar our nurses have been administering these medications safely for almost ten years in Geelong and we are very proud of the safety and quality of our work. We are passionate about transparency and ensuring our patients are adequately informed about the procedures they are having.

How do I book a dermal filler or antiwrinkle appointment at Tx Bar now?

As part of the TGA regulation changes, the team at Tx Bar have been working hard to streamline our bookings process and make it as easy as possible for our patients to schedule their usual cosmetic medical treatment with one of our nurses. On the Tx Bar bookings page you will now find that “Antiwrinkle consultation” and Dermal filler consultation” has been changed to “Cosmetic medicine consultation” this will replace antiwrinkle consultations and “Volume loss” will replace dermal filler consultations. Our staff, training, experience and treatments that are performed have not changed, just how we are able to advertise them.

Why does it just say consultation? What if I want treatment on the day?

Cosmetic procedures performed at Tx Bar all require a consultation with one of our nurses to ensure suitability for treatment. All cosmetic consultation appointments have time allowed for treatment on the day if appropriate.

Can I still get antiwrinkle or dermal filler injections at Tx Bar?

Absolutely! We have not changed our treatment offerings for our cosmetic medicine patients. All treatments are still available, it is purely the wording that has changed. Our nurses are experienced in providing consultations and treatments for patients concerned with lines and wrinkles or with loss of volume, commonly experienced in areas like the cheeks or lips.

How experienced are the Nurses at Tx Bar?

Tx Bar has been providing cosmetic medical treatments at our Pakington Street clinic for almost ten years. Our nurses all have a minimum of ten years nursing experience and a variety of cosmetic medical experience. You can find out more about each of our nurses here.

I want to see some lip filler results where are your before & afters?

As part of the TGA advertising changes, the team at Tx Bar are no longer able to advertise before and after images where it is clear that a medication has been used. We would encourage you to book a complimentary consultation with one of our nurses who can show you some before and after images of cosmetic procedures that have been performed at Tx Bar (with the consent of those patients of course!).

I can’t find pricing of antiwrinkle or dermal filler injections at Tx Bar?

Unfortunately, as part of the TGA advertising changes we are not allowed to advertise pricing of medical treatments. This is for a number of reasons, most importantly that our cosmetic procedures use medications, the doses of which need to be determined based on your individual factors, so a consultation is key to get accurate pricing. This also prevents patients seeking out treatments based on a cheap price or promotion.

If you have any questions or want to discuss your concerns with ageing please give the team at Tx Bar a call today or book a complimentary consultation with one of our cosmetic nurses.
