Skin Pen
June 21, 2018SkinPen® Microneedling at Tx Bar Geelong
We’re pleased to offer SkinPen® microneedling at our Geelong clinic — a treatment designed to support natural skin rejuvenation and the appearance of smoother, more even skin.
What Is SkinPen Microneedling?
SkinPen is a medical microneedling device that creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin’s surface. These microchannels stimulate the body’s natural wound-healing processes, including the production of collagen and elastin — two key components in skin structure and resilience1.
The treatment is designed to be minimally invasive, with little disruption to the outer skin layer (epidermis). The adjustable needle depth (ranging from 0.25mm to 2.0mm) allows our practitioners to tailor treatment based on your skin condition, area being treated, and goals.
What Skin Concerns Can It Support?
SkinPen may be suitable for improving the appearance of:
-
Mild acne scarring
-
Textural irregularities
-
Fine lines and enlarged pores
-
Mild pigmentation concerns, such as melasma
-
General skin tone and radiance
It can be safely used on various parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolletage, arms, hands, and back.
Please note: Results can vary. A full skin consultation is required to assess your suitability.
Why SkinPen at Tx Bar?
We chose SkinPen for its:
✅ Single-use, lock-in needle cartridges to ensure hygiene and safety
✅ Use of a protective Bio-Sheath to minimise cross-contamination risk

Before Your Appointment
To prepare for your appointment, please:
-
Avoid sun exposure and sunburn for at least 24 hours
-
Cease retinol or vitamin A topicals 24 hours prior
-
Let us know if you’ve used Roaccutane (isotretinoin) in the past 6 months
-
Discontinue fish oil supplements several days before and after (if approved by your GP)
-
Postpone treatment if you have active breakouts, open wounds, or recent skin infections
What to Expect During Treatment
-
Cleansing: Your skin will be double cleansed, and any residual product will be removed.
-
Sterilisation: An antiseptic solution is applied to ensure the area is clean.
-
Microneedling: A layer of Skinfuse® LIFT HG hydrogel is applied before treatment begins to protect the skin from friction. The SkinPen is then moved in precise passes over taut skin.
-
Aftercare: Skinfuse® LIFT HG is reapplied after treatment, and you’ll receive a take-home tube for same-day use. You’ll also receive Skinfuse® RESCUE calming complex to use the following day.
Most clients report minimal discomfort when pre-numbed. Sensitivity may vary depending on the area.
What’s the Downtime?
Post-treatment, your skin may appear red or feel warm — similar to mild sunburn. This generally resolves within 1–3 days, but may last longer depending on individual skin response. Temporary dryness or tightness can occur.
To support recovery, we recommend:
-
No makeup or active skincare for 24 hours
-
Avoid exercise, heat, and sun exposure for 72 hours
-
Apply only the provided aftercare products during the first 48 hours
Your practitioner will provide tailored aftercare advice to support your skin healing.
