What Is Exfoliation?

Exfoliation is the process of removing built-up dead skin cells from the outermost layer of the skin (the epidermis). These cells naturally shed every 28–35 days, but external and internal factors—such as weather, stress, dehydration, age, or air-conditioning—can slow this process. When that happens, skin may appear dull, rough, or congested.

By removing these cells with the correct exfoliation method, we help support your skin’s natural renewal process and maintain barrier health. However, over-exfoliation or the use of inappropriate products can lead to skin irritation, sensitivity, and barrier damage.

Chemical Exfoliation

What It Is:
Chemical exfoliation uses specific acids (like lactic, salicylic or glycolic) or fruit enzymes (such as papaya, pineapple, and pumpkin) to dissolve the bonds between skin cells. This allows for deeper exfoliation, helping to clear congestion and support skin renewal without the abrasion of physical methods.

Recommended Treatment:

• Aspect Dr Lanazyme Micro Peel – $79
  This enzyme-based exfoliant contains pumpkin enzymes and Lana Blue, a retinol-mimicking ingredient that promotes smoother texture and enhanced radiance without irritation. A favourite among our clients and staff.

Chemical exfoliants are often better suited for sensitive, dehydrated or acne-prone skin types, and may reduce the risk of irritation when prescribed appropriately by a professional.

The Glow Treatment Package – $195
