PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Services – Tx Bar Geelong

At Tx Bar, our team of Registered Nurses and our Nurse Practitioner in Geelong offer Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments as part of our advanced skin and wellness services. PRP is derived from your own blood and is used to support skin health, promote a rejuvenated appearance, and aid in overall tissue recovery.

All PRP treatments are carried out in a clinical setting, following an individual consultation and assessment by our experienced medical team.

What Is PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a component of your blood that contains a high concentration of platelets, which are rich in growth factors. These naturally occurring proteins play a key role in tissue repair and regeneration.

The PRP process involves drawing a small amount of your own blood, spinning it in a centrifuge to isolate and concentrate the platelets, and then using this plasma in a targeted clinical application.

What Does PRP Contain?

  • Platelets – Involved in blood clotting and tissue repair, platelets release growth factors that can assist in cell signalling, collagen synthesis, and tissue regeneration.

  • Plasma – The fluid portion of your blood that transports nutrients, hormones, and proteins.

PRP Services Offered at Tx Bar

At Tx Bar, we provide PRP services for the following purposes:

1. Skin Rejuvenation Support

PRP may be used as part of a cosmetic procedure aimed at supporting natural collagen stimulation and improving overall skin quality. In one method, PRP is applied via SkinPen microneedling, a medical device that creates controlled micro-injuries to the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing response.

PRP may also be injected into targeted areas as advised by a treating practitioner. This may assist in delivering the plasma directly into areas of concern under clinical guidance.

These treatments are not intended to treat any specific skin disease or condition. Individual outcomes may vary.

2. Hair Wellness Support

In clients concerned with early signs of hair thinning, PRP may be used in a supportive capacity by injecting into the scalp. This is conducted by a qualified practitioner after a clinical consultation and is aimed at promoting a healthy scalp environment.

3. Wound Healing Support

Under medical supervision, PRP may be used as an adjunct to standard wound care protocols to support tissue recovery in chronic or slow-healing wounds.

Please note: PRP is not a replacement for medical wound care or prescription treatments and is only offered following assessment by our clinical team.

What to Expect During PRP Treatment

The PRP process includes the following steps:

  1. A small blood sample is drawn from your arm.

  2. The sample is processed in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets.

  3. The PRP is then applied to the skin via microneedling or injected into targeted areas.

Because PRP is derived from your own blood, the risk of allergic reaction is considered low.

Post-Treatment Considerations

You may experience temporary effects after your PRP treatment, such as:

  • Redness

  • Swelling

  • Sensitivity

  • Bruising

  • Dryness or flaking

These effects usually resolve within a few hours to days, but can vary depending on the individual. Our team will provide you with post-care instructions to support optimal outcomes. We recommend avoiding sun exposure, keeping the area moisturised, and using gentle skincare during the recovery period.

If PRP is injected (such as in hair or facial applications), there may be mild discomfort or bruising at the injection site.

Your Safety at Tx Bar

All PRP treatments at Tx Bar are performed by registered health care professionals, including our Geelong-based Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioner. We follow strict infection control and clinical safety protocols and only use TGA-listed medical devices during treatment.

We do not promote PRP as a cure for any medical condition. Treatments are available only after an in-person consultation with one of our qualified practitioners.
